New details are emerging in the tragic death of 6-year-old Alvaro Kiano Nugroho, revealing that crucial information about the case was first uncovered thru a conversation overheard by a child. A witness, Muhammad Reza, came forward with details learned secondhand – initially hesitant to engage authorities but compelled by the severity of the circumstances – and ultimately reported his findings to police. The case, which ended with the suspect’s suicide in police custody last week, continues to draw scrutiny as investigators piece together the events leading to the young boy’s death near Bogor in March 2025.
The death of 6-year-old Alvaro Kiano Nugroho was brought to light by a conversation overheard by a domestic worker’s child, according to a witness who recently came forward with information. The witness subsequently reported the details to police.
Muhammad Reza, 46, recounted his initial hesitation to contact authorities, but ultimately felt compelled to report the case due to the tragic circumstances.
“We learned about this back in September,” Reza said, as reported by Antara on Wednesday, November 26. “I was afraid to report it at first, and I didn’t understand all the details.”

Reza initially learned of Alvaro’s case but waited to come forward until he had a clearer understanding of the events surrounding the boy’s death. He spent time gathering information before contacting police.
Reza first heard about the alleged murder from a child, identified only as N, who is the child of a domestic worker with the initials I. I, in turn, had learned the information from a 16-year-old nephew of Alex Iskandar, 49, Alvaro’s stepfather.
I then shared the information with her mother, stating that a school friend had knowledge of the incident.
“The witness was told by a friend. That friend is the 16-year-old nephew of the suspect,” Reza explained.
After hearing the account, Reza was further moved to action by a post shared by Alvaro’s grandfather on Instagram. He then began collecting evidence to support his report to the Pesanggrahan Police.
The report detailed information provided by a witness who claimed to know about the actions of Alex Iskandar, the alleged perpetrator in Alvaro’s death.
“The report stated that my uncle committed murder against a child. Who was the child? It was shown on social media, his name is Alvaro Kiano Nugroho,” Reza said.

Police are providing trauma counseling to the family of the late Alvaro. The support aims to stabilize the emotional and psychological state of the family.
Authorities have stated they will continue to offer this support indefinitely, until the family’s psychological condition improves.
Alex was initially taken into custody on Friday, November 21. He had married Alvaro’s mother in 2023 and had reportedly been considering divorce.
Police discovered Alvaro’s body near the Cilalay River in Tenjo, Bogor, in March 2025. Alex confessed to killing Alvaro, citing jealousy towards his wife. He later died by suicide while in a counseling room at the South Jakarta Police headquarters.
