Continuing her remarkable 2026 season, world number one An se-young of South Korea advanced to the quarterfinals of the BWF India Open in new Delhi on Thursday.The reigning Malaysia Open champion demonstrated her dominance with a swift, straight-set victory over Taiwan’s Huang Yu-hsin, continuing a winning streak that has solidified her position as a top contender in international badminton. The quarterfinals mark another step in An Se-young‘s pursuit of the India Open title and further cements her status as a player to watch on the global stage.
An Se-young advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2026 BWF India Open on Thursday, defeating Taiwan’s Huang Yu-hsin in straight sets. The world-class badminton player secured the victory with a dominant performance, winning 2-0 in just 31 minutes.
From the opening game, An Se-young took control with aggressive play, building a significant seven-point lead and quickly closing out the first set.
The second game followed a similar pattern, as An Se-young swiftly reached the interval and continued to pressure Huang Yu-hsin with a series of well-placed attacks. Huang Yu-hsin struggled to respond, unable to reach double digits as An Se-young sealed the match.
Huang Yu-hsin had previously defeated Kim Ga-eun 2-1 in the round of 16, but couldn’t overcome the challenge posed by the world number one.
An Se-young will now face the winner of the match between Indonesia’s Putri Kusuma Wardani and Line Højmark Kjærsfeldt of Denmark in the quarterfinals.
The draw has positioned An Se-young favorably, with potential challengers like China’s Chen Yufei, Han Yue, and Wang Zhiyi on the opposite side of the bracket.
