Forward Ansu Fati’s loan move to AS Monaco, intended to revive his career after a challenging period at Barcelona, has hit a snag as teh 20-year-old struggles for consistent playing time under new management. Fati initially impressed with four goals in his first five appearances, but has since gone scoreless in six matches, coinciding with a managerial change at the Ligue 1 club. The situation has raised concerns at Barcelona, who hold a transfer option dependent on the player’s performance [[3]].

Ansu Fati’s stint with Monaco got off to a flying start, but the promising beginning has faded as the young forward finds himself increasingly on the periphery of the team.

After an uncertain period at Barcelona, Fati joined Monaco on loan this past summer, seeking consistent playing time and a chance to rediscover his form.

The loan agreement includes an option for Monaco to make the transfer permanent, contingent on the player’s performance.

Fati initially made a significant impact, scoring in each of his first three appearances for the club. He tallied four goals in that initial stretch, quickly becoming a fan favorite.

Following goals against Club Brugge, Metz, and Lorient, Fati was unable to continue his scoring streak in a 2-2 draw against Manchester City.

However, he quickly rebounded, netting two goals in a 2-2 draw against Nice on October 5th. Those goals, however, would prove to be his last for Monaco to date.

In the six matches since, Ansu Fati has failed to register a goal or assist for Monaco – a stark contrast to his impressive start that saw him contribute to six goals in five games.

This downturn in form coincides with a change in the Monaco dugout. On October 9th, Adi Hutter was relieved of his duties, and two days later, Sebastien Pocognoli was appointed as his replacement.

Since taking over, Pocognoli’s tactical approach appears to be a poor fit for Fati, leading to a decline in playing time and a loss of confidence from the new manager.

In Pocognoli’s first three matches in charge, Fati played a total of 200 minutes, according to data from Whoscored.

In the subsequent three games, the 23-year-old’s minutes were slashed, totaling just 55 minutes on the pitch.

Marca reports that this situation is causing concern at Barcelona, who fear Monaco may be unwilling to exercise their option to buy Fati if his current form continues.
