Rapper Armani White Arrested After Highway Music Video Shoot
Rapper Armani White was arrested on October 12th outside Newport, Kentucky, for second-degree disorderly conduct after filming a music video on highway barriers.
Police bodycam footage shows the interaction between White and officers from the London Police Department, who responded to reports of unsafe behavior. White explained to the officer that he and his crew were filming a music video and were en route to a tour stop further south, before being placed under arrest. Fellow rapper Kash Blak witnessed the arrest, appearing visibly upset as officers applied handcuffs.
The situation took an unexpected turn inside the police cruiser, where White and the arresting officer engaged in a conversation about their favorite hip-hop artists. The officer reportedly favored older Eminem and country music, but admitted to being a fan of 42 Dugg, discovering the artist through news reports of his past legal issues. This incident highlights the increasing scrutiny faced by artists when filming in public spaces, often requiring permits and adherence to safety regulations. White later addressed the incident during a performance yesterday in Birmingham, Alabama, stating he smiled for his mugshot “because he refuses to be painted as a criminal.”
The video shot during the incident is reportedly for a song titled “Say It To Me,” which is slated to appear on White’s upcoming album. Authorities have not yet announced any further charges, and the case is currently being processed through the local court system; you can find more information about legal processes in Kentucky here. White’s recent hit, “Billie Eilish,” has garnered significant attention on Billboard.
Police officials stated they are reviewing the incident to determine if any additional safety measures are needed for future filming requests.
