Arsenal Face Key Injury Concerns as Odegaard, Havertz, and Saliba Sidelined

Arsenal is navigating a series of injury setbacks to key players, potentially impacting their strong start to the Premier League season.

Martin Odegaard is expected to be out for six to eight weeks with a knee problem, according to injury expert Ben Dinnery. While Odegaard previously dealt with a shoulder issue, Dinnery noted he maintained his cardiovascular fitness and anticipates a relatively quick reintegration, potentially around the festive fixtures against Everton, Brighton, and Aston Villa. A prolonged absence for the captain could test Arsenal’s midfield depth as they aim to maintain their lead at the top of the Premier League table.

Kai Havertz is projected to return in late November or early December, though his recovery will be carefully managed due to past injury problems. “He shouldn’t be too far away and will hopefully be back end of November or early December,” Dinnery said. “However, given his problems throughout 2025, he would be a player that will be managed a lot more in terms of his reintegration.”

Defender William Saliba was ruled out of yesterday’s Carabao Cup match against Brighton with a thigh issue, but the injury doesn’t appear to be serious. “This one is a difficult one to diagnose and we’re waiting for an update but it didn’t seem to be anything too significant,” Dinnery explained. Arsenal has capable replacements in Piero Hincapie and Cristhian Mosquera, but Saliba’s presence has been vital to their defensive record, currently the best in the league, conceding only three goals in nine matches, as reported by ESPN.

Club officials are continuing to monitor the players’ progress and will adjust their return-to-play timelines based on their recovery and the team’s performance.
