Drivers who filmed themselves performing dangerous zig-zag maneuvers on the Bekasi-Cawang-Kampung Melayu Toll Road (Becakayu) have apologized after a video of the incident went viral on social media.
Police have identified six drivers involved in the reckless driving and issued them with formal warnings. The incident underscores growing concerns about dangerous stunts performed for social media content.
Authorities were alerted after the video surfaced online, showing multiple vehicles swerving erratically across lanes on the relatively empty toll road.

“We have issued verbal reprimands to the drivers who performed the zig-zag maneuvers on the Becakayu Toll Road, Jakarta Timur,” said AKBP Reiki Indra Brata Manggala, Head of Traffic Police (PJR) Traffic Police Polda Metro Jaya, on Saturday, March 7.
The drivers – identified by the initials N, I, H, K, H and A – all reportedly apologized for their dangerous actions. Police confirmed that all six individuals are approximately 25 years ancient and possess valid driver’s licenses.
According to police, the drivers admitted the stunt was performed solely for entertainment purposes and to create content for social media. Some of those involved are reportedly involved in the used car sales business and intended to use the video to promote their vehicles.
“Their motive was to create content and also to sell cars, as some of them work in used car sales,” explained AKBP Reiki Indra Brata Manggala.
Authorities opted for a preventative approach, focusing on education rather than issuing fines or detaining the drivers. “We are prioritizing preventative measures and providing educational guidance,” he added.
The incident began circulating on social media on Wednesday, March 4, after a video was posted to Instagram account @dashcamindonesia showing five cars weaving back and forth across multiple lanes of the toll road near Kalimalang, Jakarta Timur. The video description noted the dangerous nature of the driving.
“Chronology: Dangerous actions on the highway were again recorded by citizen journalists. A number of four-wheeled vehicles were caught performing a winding or zig-zag convoy on the Becakayu Toll Road, Kalimalang area, East Jakarta,” read the caption accompanying the video.
