Gonzalo Cueto, passenger services manager for EFE Sur, highlighted improvements in service regularity following the official opening of the novel railway bridge over the Bío Bío River on Tuesday, April 22, 2025.

The bridge, now fully operational, enables updated schedules for Line 2 of the Biotren, which connects Concepción and Coronel with trains running every 15 minutes, particularly during peak hours.

Officials confirmed that schedule adjustments were made for both directions—Concepción to Coronel and Coronel to Concepción—with certain services removed to optimize frequency, and reliability.

The changes were announced alongside the bridge’s inauguration, which now serves commuters across Greater Concepción at full capacity.

Line 1 will also undergo modifications, though specific details were not included in the initial announcement.

The Line 2 route carries more than 50,000 passengers daily and accounted for nearly 90% of Biotren’s total ridership in 2025, when the system recorded over 11 million trips.

For updated schedules, fares, and station information, passengers can consult official Biotren resources.
