An Indonesian peacekeeper serving with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) has died after sustaining injuries in an Israeli attack, officials confirmed.
The soldier, identified as Rico Pramudia, was wounded in the assault near the town of Adchit Al Qusayr in southern Lebanon and later underwent medical treatment. Despite receiving intensive care, he succumbed to his wounds.
His death marks another loss for Indonesia’s contingent in the UNIFIL mission, which has been monitoring the Blue Line between Lebanon and Israel since 1978. Indonesian personnel have been part of the peacekeeping force for decades, contributing to stability in a volatile region.
The Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the attack, calling it a violation of international law and urging all parties to respect the safety of UN personnel. The ministry reiterated its commitment to the protection of its peacekeepers and called for a thorough investigation into the incident.
UNIFIL has not released further details about the circumstances of the attack, but confirmed that the incident occurred in the Israeli-occupied southern sector of Lebanon, where tensions have remained elevated in recent months.
