Blues Acquire Defenseman Calle Rosen from Capitals

The St. Louis Blues announced today they have acquired defenseman Calle Rosen from the Washington Capitals in exchange for defenseman Corey Schueneman, a move aimed at bolstering their defensive depth.

Rosen, 31, will initially report to the Blues’ American Hockey League affiliate, the Springfield Thunderbirds. He has registered seven points – one goal and six assists – in nine games this season with the Hershey Bears, the Capitals’ AHL team. Throughout his AHL career, spanning 360 regular-season games, the Vaxjo, Sweden native has accumulated 198 points (36 goals, 162 assists) and 148 penalty minutes.

The defenseman has appeared in parts of six National Hockey League seasons, including a previous stint with the Blues from 2021-2024. During the 2022-23 season, Rosen played in 49 regular-season games for St. Louis, achieving a career-high 18 points with eight goals and ten assists. You can find more information about the St. Louis Blues on the official NHL website. The trade allows the Blues to bring back a familiar face who has demonstrated offensive capabilities from the blue line.

The Blues organization has not yet commented on the future role of Rosen beyond his assignment to Springfield, but stated that both players will be evaluated by their respective new teams. For more on player transactions, visit TSN.
