“The violence took from us a leader and friend who still had much to give to Colombia. But when barbarism tries to erase those who defended their convictions, the least we can do is preserve his memory, and today, from the Bogotá City Council, a place where Miguel began his political career, we approve this agreement that exalts his leadership. Today, Bogotá honors one of its own, and in doing so, reaffirms that security, institutional strength, and principles remain the way forward,” the council members stated.
