Controversies Surrounding Bonnie Blue
Blue was deported from Bali alongside three other foreign nationals after a series of incidents raised concerns with local authorities.
Prior to her deportation, Blue was cited for a traffic violation while filming content from a pickup truck labeled “BangBus” on the streets of Bali.
Authorities also allege that Blue engaged in the production of adult content while on a tourist visa, a violation of Indonesian law. The Badung Police Department questioned Blue on December 4 regarding the alleged production and distribution of indecent material on the island.
Blue and the three other foreign nationals have been placed on a watch list, barring them from entering Indonesia for the next 10 years.
“Based on the investigation, all four foreign nationals entered Indonesia using a visa on arrival. However, they were found to be conducting commercial content production activities that were not in accordance with their tourist visas,” stated Winarko, Head of the Ngurah Rai Immigration Office.
Yuldi Yusman, Acting Director General of Immigration, confirmed that Blue has been barred from entering Indonesia for 10 years.
“That’s correct, (a ban of) 10 years, not 6 months as she stated in the video,” Yusman said.
He explained that the Ngurah Rai Class I Special Immigration Office in Bali submitted a request for the 10-year ban on December 12, 2025, following the legal violations and misuse of her residency permit during her stay in Bali.
Alleged Disrespect of Indonesian Flag
A video recently went viral on social media appearing to show Blue disrespecting the Indonesian flag. The Indonesian Embassy in London has since filed a complaint with British authorities regarding the incident.
The viral video, viewed by detikcom, depicts Blue with the Indonesian flag tucked into the back of her pants, causing it to drag along the ground.
The video reportedly was filmed after Blue’s deportation from Indonesia.
In response to the viral video, the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the London embassy has coordinated with the central government and local authorities. The embassy also reported the incident to local police for further investigation.
“The Indonesian Embassy in London has coordinated with the central government and local authorities. The Indonesian Embassy has submitted an official complaint to the relevant authorities in the UK, including the British Foreign Office and local police, for further handling in accordance with applicable laws, procedures, and authorities in the UK,” said Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Vahd Nabyl A Mulachela on Tuesday, December 23.
Reaction from Indonesian Lawmakers
Dave Laksono, Vice Chairman of Commission I of the Indonesian House of Representatives, condemned Blue’s actions, stating that such behavior is unacceptable.
“The flag is a symbol of national sovereignty and honor, and any act that degrades it cannot be tolerated,” Laksono told reporters on Tuesday, December 23.
Laksono urged the government to take firm action against foreign nationals who allegedly disrespect the country. He expressed hope that the Indonesian Embassy would formally express its objections to Blue’s conduct.
“When she misbehaves abroad again, the scope is different. In this context, Commission I of the DPR RI emphasizes the importance of the role of the Indonesian Embassy and diplomatic channels to convey official objections while ensuring that the action does not have a negative impact on bilateral relations,” said the Golkar legislator.
“Indonesia must remain firm in voicing its attitude, but remain wise in maintaining international relations,” he added.
Laksono called for stronger oversight mechanisms for foreign nationals entering Indonesia, emphasizing that everyone should respect the symbols of other nations.
“Commission I of the DPR RI encourages strengthening the oversight mechanism for foreign nationals entering Indonesia, including ensuring they understand the rules and respect national symbols.
Laksono affirmed that the honor of the nation must be maintained at all times, while hoping that the embassy’s actions will be conducted diplomatically.
“With measured steps, Commission I of the DPR RI wants to affirm that the honor of the nation must be maintained, and that Indonesia is able to be firm, diplomatic, and consistent in enforcing the rules,” he said.
