Nîmes Université will host the annual Brain Week from March 16 to 20, focusing this year on the complex relationship between crises, trauma, and brain function. The event will feature lectures and workshops designed to share the latest advances in neuroscience with the public.
Brain Week, a widespread event taking place in over 120 cities across France and Europe, returns to Nîmes for its third consecutive year. Researchers will present their latest findings in neuroscience, discuss the scientific process in an era of misinformation, and explore the implications of understanding the brain during a series of exchanges held March 16-20 at the Vauban site of Nîmes Université. Understanding how the brain responds to stress and trauma is increasingly important for public health and well-being.
Registration for the three public lectures is now open.
This year’s edition, dedicated to the theme of “Crises and Trauma,” will feature a unique program with presentations from four of Nîmes Université’s research teams (APSY-v, CHROME, ENACT, and MIPA) and the Nîmes University Hospital (CHU). Workshops will be offered for school groups, and lectures will be open to all. Researchers from various scientific disciplines will offer diverse perspectives on how the brain works, encouraging attendees to question, wonder, and appreciate its complexity.
The Program
Three lectures open to the public will be held Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM in Amphitheater A1 at the Vauban site of Nîmes Université:
- Monday, March 16: “When the Resting Brain is Never at Rest: Psychotrauma and Brain Networks.”
- Tuesday, March 17: “Emergency Medicine and Decision-Making Under Stress.”
- Thursday, March 19: “How Does the Brain React to Trauma? What Brain Connectivity Reveals About Functional Disorders.”
- Friday, March 20: Dedicated sessions for school groups will be held on Friday, March 20, focusing on forensic science, drugs and the brain, and a brain and sports workshop including exergaming.
