Colombian defender Brian Córdoba has found a new club. The former CSKA Sofia player is returning to his native Colombia permanently, where he will play for local side Cúcuta Deportivo. The club’s biggest achievement to date is a national championship title from 20 years ago.
The defender joined CSKA Sofia in the summer of 2023 and went on to make 43 appearances for the club in all competitions.
“CSKA Sofia thanks Brian Córdoba and wishes him health and future success on the football pitch!” the club wrote in a farewell statement in early January 2026.
Known as “The Sheriff,” the defender became one of the biggest disappointments of the Ganchev era. This was due to the transfer fee paid, valued at €1,180,000 by Transfermarkt. The versatile player’s record value was €900,000 in 2024. The specialized website now values him at €400,000.
Córdoba’s last match came in the fall, when CSKA Sofia and Ludogorets played to a 0-0 draw in Sofia.
