Denver-Area Café Restricts Unaccompanied Students After Disruptive Behavior

A café in the Denver area announced today it will no longer allow middle and high school students to dine inside without adult supervision, following repeated instances of disruptive behavior and theft.

Apple Ridge Café detailed the new policy in a Facebook post last week, stating the changes were necessary due to recent actions by a small number of students. The café now requires a parent or adult to accompany students who wish to eat inside the establishment. Students are still permitted to place takeout orders or pick up pre-ordered food, but must pay before receiving their items and consume them off the premises. This policy shift reflects a growing concern among businesses about maintaining safe and respectful environments for all patrons.

“We’ve always enjoyed being a place where young people can gather, but recent actions by a few have made it necessary to make this change,” the café stated. Management expressed hope that the new restrictions will be temporary, and that addressing the issues will allow them to once again welcome younger guests without supervision. Concerns about youth behavior in public spaces have prompted discussions about school discipline policies and community involvement.

The café stated its goal is to maintain a safe, respectful, and welcoming atmosphere for everyone. They hope bringing the matter to the community’s attention will lead to improved behavior and a return to the previous, more open policy. For more information on creating positive community spaces, resources are available from the American City & County website.

Management indicated they will continue to monitor the situation and reassess the policy as needed.
