The blockbuster video game market is showing early signs of shifting dynamics, as Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 experienced a critically important sales drop in its second week of release across European markets, according to data released by GSD Sales Data. While a decline after launch is common, the dip for the latest Call of Duty title appears more pronounced, coinciding with a surge in sales for older titles fueled by Black Friday promotions. This performance offers a snapshot of current consumer spending habits within the highly competitive gaming industry.

Sales of this year’s Call of Duty title have dipped in its second week, a typical trend that appears more pronounced this time around.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, released just over two weeks ago, has already slipped in the European sales charts, according to the latest report from GSD Sales Data. This comes as older titles saw a resurgence thanks to Black Friday promotions. While Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 debuted at number one in its first week, sales were 63% lower than those of Battlefield 6.

By its second week (November 17th to November 23rd), Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 fell to second place, overtaken by EA Sports FC 26 in both revenue and units sold. The performance of blockbuster game franchises often indicates broader trends in consumer spending and gaming habits.

Battlefield 6 remained within the top five, moving to third place on both charts, directly behind Call of Duty: Black Ops 7. Other recently released games, including Anno 117: Pax Romana and Pokémon Legends Z-A, maintained their positions in the top 10. Football Manager 26, however, appeared to fade after a strong opening week.

The only other new entry on the charts was Kirby Air Riders, which barely made it into the revenue list at tenth place. The return of several other titles to the charts is attributed to Black Friday deals, which boosted sales of older games. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and It Takes Two both reappeared on the lists due to the holiday promotions.
