The 19-year-old striker has rejected advances from both River Plate and Boca Juniors, prioritizing a move to European football. Midtjylland of Denmark emerged as the frontrunner, but Vélez has now rejected their initial bid, throwing the player’s future back into question.

Vélez leadership found the Danish club’s offer of $10 million, payable over three years, to be insufficient. The club is hoping for a revised proposal with improved terms, but for now, Carrizo’s next move remains uncertain. This situation highlights the club’s firm stance on maximizing the value of one of its brightest prospects.

Just days ago, Carrizo had a conversation with Guillermo Barros Schelotto, expressing his hesitation about playing in the Apertura debut against Instituto due to the distraction of the potential Danish transfer. Now, however, that situation could be changing. Read more about the initial discussions here.

For “El Mellizo” (Barros Schelotto), Carrizo is a key piece of the attack and Vélez’s most dangerous player. While he initially granted the young forward permission to miss the match in Córdoba, the stalled sale could see him reconsider.

With a contract running through December 2027, Carrizo remains a Vélez player, and his name could be on the list of players called up for the second match against Talleres on Tuesday at 5:45 PM at the José Amalfitani stadium. A return to the squad would provide a significant boost to Vélez’s attacking options.
