Moroccan Foundation Prioritizes Social Impact, Recognizing Effective Community Initiatives

Rabat, Morocco – The CDG Foundation recently awarded prizes to three Moroccan associations demonstrating significant positive impact on citizens’ lives, signaling a growing emphasis on data-driven results within the country’s social sector. The initiative aims to strengthen the effectiveness of nonprofit organizations and promote a culture of impact measurement, reflecting a broader shift toward sustainable development practices in Morocco.

Three Organizations Honored After Intensive Evaluation

The awards culminated a rigorous program focused on assessing and quantifying social impact. Fifteen organizations participated, with three ultimately being recognized as laureates. All participating associations also received certificates acknowledging their completion of the “Social Impact Evaluation and Measurement” program.

The inaugural award recipients are: La Fondation Sanady, a public utility foundation working for over fifteen years to combat school dropout rates through educational support programs including remediation, tutoring, and extracurricular activities; L’Association Al Intilaka pour le Développement, l’Environnement et la CultureAfourer (AIDECA), based in the Béni Mellal-Khénifra region, recognized for its project empowering vulnerable women and youth through socioeconomic opportunities; and l’Amicale marocaine des handicapés (AMH), honored for its IFADA program, a social incubator supporting entrepreneurship and professional integration for people with disabilities. “Measure to Transform” Becomes Guiding Principle

Wafaa Naim El Idrissi, Director General of the CDG Foundation, emphasized the core philosophy behind the initiative during the awards ceremony on January 22, 2026. “Piloting your social impact means ensuring that our actions bring real change over the long term,” she stated. She stressed the importance of organizations moving beyond simply implementing projects to actively evaluating the tangible transformations they create for communities.

El Idrissi explained that the CDG Foundation is now centering social impact as the primary focus of all its work, aiming to “prove to convince, adjust to stay on course, and persevere to inspire models useful to the common good.” The foundation is positioning itself as a driver of social innovation, a catalyst for the nonprofit sector, and a hub for knowledge sharing to support lasting change. This approach includes comprehensive support systems for organizations at all stages of development, from inception to expansion, with a focus on strengthening human capital and structuring impact-driven strategies.

El Idrissi also announced plans to expand the foundation’s recently launched training campus, developed in partnership with the Université Internationale de Rabat. Following a pilot phase, the campus will begin a regional tour, starting in Ouarzazate. Additionally, the first cohort of a certification program in governance for organizations within the social and solidarity economy will soon be launched, in collaboration with the Université Internationale de Rabat and the Institut marocain des administrateurs.

Impact Evaluation Gains Importance in Public Policy

Mohammed Dardouri, Wali and National Coordinator of the Initiative Nationale pour le Développement Humain (INDH), also addressed the ceremony, highlighting the increasing significance of impact evaluation in shaping public policy. He noted that a dedicated monitoring, evaluation, and impact measurement unit was integrated into the INDH following the launch of its third phase in 2018, to better guide public interventions.

According to Dardouri, this approach “allows public policies to land where they should land, aligning supply and demand.” He cited a community health program implemented across several regions as an example, which led to a notable shift in behaviors, including a rise in breastfeeding rates from 35% to 45%. The emphasis on measurable outcomes underscores a commitment to ensuring public resources are used effectively.

The event also featured a panel discussion on impact-driven strategies. Experts emphasized the need for a structured and rigorous methodological framework to enhance the credibility of associations, improve the clarity of their actions, and strengthen the trust of their partners. They also stressed the importance of establishing a common language around social impact to reduce ambiguity and ground nonprofit practices in reliable, verifiable data.
