President Claudia Sheinbaum recently rode the new suburban train to Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA), marking a key milestone in the government’s transportation initiative.
The inaugural journey from the State of Mexico to AIFA was described by Sheinbaum as a fulfilled mission, highlighting the project’s progress under her administration.
Officials confirmed the train service, which connects Buenavista to AIFA, will cost passengers 45 pesos per ride, aiming to improve affordability and accessibility for commuters.
The route is designed to strengthen regional connectivity, integrating with existing suburban rail networks to streamline travel to the airport.
Authorities noted that passengers can use their existing Suburbano train cards to access the new AIFA line, simplifying transfers between services.
Sheinbaum emphasized that the train’s launch represents a step forward in modernizing public transit and reducing congestion at Mexico City’s primary airport.
The development comes as AIFA continues to position itself as a growing hub for domestic and international travel, despite recent setbacks in U.S. Flight route approvals.
Government leaders said the rail link supports broader efforts to promote sustainable transportation and equitable access to infrastructure across the Mexico City metropolitan area.
