Residents of the cheb region of the Czech Republic have reported experiencing a sustained series of minor earthquakes since November 20, prompting increased monitoring by geological authorities. While the tremors, the strongest of which reached a magnitude of 2.6, are not considered immediately dangerous, the unusual frequency-nearly daily occurrences-has raised concerns and prompted numerous reports from residents as far as several kilometers from the epicenter. The Institute of Geophysics is closely analyzing the data, acknowledging potential variations in magnitude readings as they refine thier assessments [[1]].

A series of minor earthquakes has been ongoing in the Cheb region since November 20, with tremors occurring almost daily. The repeated seismic activity is prompting monitoring from geological authorities.

On Tuesday, automated stations detected two earthquakes after 1:00 PM local time. Preliminary data indicates the second tremor registered a magnitude of 2.21.

The Institute of Geophysics of the Czech Academy of Sciences notes that the strength of the tremors is subject to refinement, with potential discrepancies of up to 0.5 magnitude between automated estimates and recalculated values, as detailed on their website.

The strongest earthquakes in the current sequence occurred on Thursday, November 20, and Friday, November 21, reaching a magnitude of 2.6. All tremors have originated at a depth exceeding seven kilometers, with epicenters located east of Luby near Cheb and north of Nový Kostel.

Earthquakes around magnitude 2.5 are typically detectable by people, though often go unnoticed during the day due to ambient noise. Residents in the Cheb and Sokolov areas are more likely to feel the tremors at night.

The Cheb region is known for seismic activity often accompanied by audible sounds. Seismologists report receiving dozens of reports from individuals who have felt the tremors, sometimes from locations several kilometers from the epicenter.
