Ezequiel Ávila, the Argentinian forward, is set to join Getafe of Spain’s La Liga, marking his sixth club outside of his home country.

Ávila, a powerful attacker who previously drew interest from Boca, will continue his European career after a relatively quiet spell with Real Betis. The move comes as the player seeks more consistent playing time.

At Betis, Ávila made 52 appearances across all competitions since mid-2023, scoring five goals and providing four assists. He also received 13 yellow cards and two red cards during his time with the Seville-based club.

The Career of Ezequiel Ávila

Ávila first emerged at Tiro Federal in Argentina’s second division in 2010. He then moved to San Lorenzo in 2014, where he featured in 30 matches and scored twice before making the jump to Europe in 2017.

His first stop in Europe was Huesca, followed by a successful stint at Osasuna in 2019. At Osasuna, Ávila played 123 games over five seasons, netting 28 goals and establishing himself as a key player.

The move to Betis followed, where he initially saw regular action alongside teammate Giovani Lo Celso. However, his playing time gradually diminished, leading to limited opportunities in recent seasons.

A Dream of Playing for Central

Throughout his career, Ávila has openly expressed his desire to play for Rosario Central, the club he supports. As recently as mid-2025, when his brother Gastón was linked with a move to Central, Ávila reiterated his ambition to play at the club’s Estadio Gigante de Arroyito. While that opportunity hasn’t materialized, the forward continues to hold onto that dream.

Now, Betis will send him on loan to Getafe until the end of the 2025/26 season, with Getafe holding an option to purchase him afterward. The loan move offers Ávila a chance to regain form and secure more playing time in La Liga.
