What Will Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey Be About?
The Odyssey, from Christopher Nolan, will be based on the historic poem about Odysseus, the Greek hero who embarks on a dangerous ten-year journey to return home after the Trojan War.
While an official synopsis hasn’t been released, Comicbook shared a concept of Homer’s epic work that could provide insight into Nolan’s new cinematic project.
“Homer’s Odyssey tells the story of Odysseus and his travels across the Mediterranean Sea in an attempt to return to his home in Ithaca after a decade-long war. Odysseus angers Poseidon and is pursued ‘with relentless wrath.’ The epic poem features mythical characters such as Telemachus, the son of Odysseus/Ulysses and Penelope; the goddess Athena; the one-eyed giant cyclops Polyphemus, blinded by Odysseus; the brilliant sorceress Circe; the lustful goddess Calypso; and the vengeful god of the sea Poseidon,” the film-focused portal describes.
