The Outaouais Integrated Health and Social Services Center (CISSSO) is emphasizing the importance of colorectal cancer screening, which can often detect the disease before symptoms even appear. Early detection is a critical factor in improving treatment outcomes and saving lives.

For individuals between the ages of 50 and 74, colorectal cancer is the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths in Quebec. Approximately 300 people in the Outaouais region receive a diagnosis each year.

According to the CISSSO, finding colorectal cancer early significantly increases the chances of successful treatment and long-term survival. Screening is available at no cost to those aged 50 to 74, as well as individuals with a family history of the disease. The screening process is straightforward, quick, and can be completed at home.

Individuals who meet the criteria are encouraged to utilize the Clic Santé platform or schedule an appointment to determine their eligibility for the screening test.
