Across the Americas, a total of 4,121,923 suspected cases of dengue fever have been reported this year as of Epidemiological Week 44 (October 27 to November 2, 2025), resulting in a cumulative incidence rate of 406 cases per 100,000 people. This represents a significant 67% decrease compared to the same period in 2024 and a 9% reduction from the five-year average.
Of the reported dengue cases in the region, 38% have been laboratory confirmed, with 0.2% classified as severe dengue. The case fatality rate currently stands at 0.050%. This data provides crucial insight into the current scope and severity of the dengue situation across the region.
During Epidemiological Week 44, 32,054 new suspected dengue cases were reported from 15 countries and territories within the region.
Central America and Mexico Subregion: This subregion recorded 6,102 new suspected dengue cases during Week 44, a 78% decrease compared to the same week in 2024 and a 46% decrease from the five-year average. Notably, cases reported this week from Honduras show a 40% increase compared to the previous four weeks.
Caribbean Subregion. Forty new suspected dengue cases were recorded in Week 44. The subregion is experiencing a 54% decrease compared to the same week in 2024 and a 46% decrease compared to the five-year average.
Andean Subregion. A total of 3,035 new suspected dengue cases were reported in Week 44, representing a 62% decrease compared to the same week in 2024 and a 24% decrease from the five-year average. This week’s reports from Peru indicate a 49% increase, while Colombia reported a 12% increase in cases compared to the previous four epidemiological weeks.
Southern Cone Subregion. The Southern Cone reported 22,877 new suspected dengue cases in Week 44, a 67% decrease compared to the same week in 2024 and a 3% decrease from the five-year average. Cases reported this week from Paraguay show an 11% increase compared to the previous four epidemiological weeks.
Dengue virus serotypes are currently circulating in sixteen countries across the Americas. Brazil, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Mexico, Panama, and Puerto Rico are reporting the simultaneous circulation of DENV-1, DENV-2, DENV-3, and DENV-4 serotypes. The presence of multiple serotypes can complicate disease management and increase the risk of severe illness.
