Blizzard Entertainment is celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Diablo franchise with a significant content rollout, including the unveiling of a new class – the Necromancer – and updates across multiple Diablo titles. The Necromancer will arrive with the Lord of Hatred expansion for Diablo IV on April 28, 2026, and will also be available in Diablo Immortal in June.

In a surprise move, the Necromancer is available now in Diablo II: Resurrected as part of the newly released “Reign of the Warlock” DLC. The DLC, released over 25 years after the original game, is available for purchase on Battle.net, PlayStation Store, Xbox Store, and eShop for €24.99. An Infernal Edition, priced at €39.99, bundles the base game and the expansion.

The updates don’t stop there. Diablo II: Resurrected has also launched on Steam with the Infernal Edition, and the standard version is now available through Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass.

What’s New in Reign of the Warlock

“Reign of the Warlock” introduces the Necromancer, a versatile class with three distinct playstyles: summoning demonic allies, enhancing weapons with otherworldly magic, and unleashing ranged attacks fueled by fire, shadow, and chaos. The class is supported by new unique items, sets, and runewords, alongside the Chronicle system, which tracks all items acquired on an account.

Quality-of-life improvements include customizable loot filters and new shared stash tabs organized for gems, materials, and runes, streamlining inventory management. Terror Zones have also been updated, allowing players to choose their battlegrounds with revised difficulty and mechanics that reward strategic gameplay.

For endgame content, Ancients return as high-level challenges designed for groups and optimized characters. The package is completed with a series of cross-game rewards, including a mascot and cosmetic trophy for Diablo IV and an item for player housing in World of Warcraft.
