Master CS2 Shooting Like CS:GO – Pro Tips & Settings Guide

Valve has released a new update for Counter-Strike 2 that significantly changes the shooting experience, making it feel much more like Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.

The update, deployed in the early hours of April 21, 2026, includes refinements to camera movement during recoil, bringing it closer to the feel players remember from CS:GO. While bullet trajectories continue to follow CS2’s existing mechanics, the aim punch effect—triggered when taking damage—is now processed with full camera movement, independent of network latency.

According to the update notes, the impact of aim punch on bullet trajectory remains server-side and is applied instantly. The changes were not mentioned in the official release notes, surprising the community with an unannounced adjustment to core gameplay.

Alongside the shooting improvements, the update introduced the Animgraph 2 system, which brings updated animations that offer improved visual fidelity and may deliver extra frames per second. Network packet handling has similarly seen notable improvements, with further analysis expected soon.

Specific animation fixes include adjustments to viewmodel movements and corrections to instances where crouching transitions in mid-air occurred too abruptly. A bug causing MVP panel characters to fail to return to their proper positions has also been resolved.

The update also removed several items from the game’s Armory, including the Train 2025 Collection, Sport & Field Collection, Sugarface 2 stickers, and Elemental Craft stickers.

Community response has been positive, with players noting that the shooting now feels nearly identical to CS:GO, potentially enhancing match enjoyment. While further refinements may still be needed, the unexpected change has been welcomed as a significant step toward aligning CS2’s feel with its predecessor.
