Doutor Finanças Co-Founder and Chairman Removed Amid Harassment Allegations
Rui Pedro Bairrada, the co-founder and chairman of Doutor Finanças, announced on May 13, 2026, that he has been removed from his professional duties. The leadership change follows a disciplinary process triggered by allegations of sexual and moral harassment.
The company launched what it described as a “rigorous and independent” investigation immediately after complaints were submitted through internal reporting channels. These allegations reportedly date back to the period when Bairrada served as CEO, resulting in two formal charges issued in January and March. As part of the proceedings, Bairrada was also prohibited from entering the company’s facilities.
Addressing the situation via LinkedIn, Bairrada described the current period as “particularly difficult on a personal and professional level.” He strongly denied the accusations, stating they “are false and that I will contest them through the appropriate means, with serenity and confidence.”
“After 12 years of total dedication to Doutor Finanças, a company I founded and to which I truly gave everything of myself, I was notified of the termination of my duties as an employee of the partnership,” Bairrada wrote. Despite the removal from his operational role, he noted that he remains the partner with the largest share in the company.
The removal of a founding chairman under such circumstances underscores the increasing corporate emphasis on workplace conduct and internal accountability. While Bairrada has been stripped of his executive functions, his status as the majority shareholder ensures he maintains a significant ownership stake in the firm.
