Mexican Supreme Court Declines Review of Acid Attack Survivor’s Case
The Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN) has refused to review the case of María Elena Ríos, a saxophonist and survivor of an acid attack.
Reacting to the ruling, Ríos stated that “the justice system lost.”
The high court’s decision also extended to other legal matters, as the court declined to take up cases involving the collapse of Metro Line 12.
The ruling highlights the ongoing legal challenges and hurdles victims face when seeking accountability and recourse through Mexico’s highest judicial authority.
