Dubai reaffirmed its commitment too sustainable urban growth this week as Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum opened the 46th edition of The Big 5 Global at the Dubai World Trade Center. The event, which runs through January 27 and features over 2,800 exhibitors and 85,000 specialists, serves as a key platform for showcasing innovative construction technologies and fostering international collaboration in the building sector. with a focus on future-proofing infrastructure and accelerating digital transformation, the event underscores the UAE’s ambition to remain a global leader in sustainable and resilient city development.
Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of the National Olympic Committee, affirmed the construction sector’s significant role in driving the United Arab Emirates’ overall sustainable development. He emphasized that the industry translates economic and social plans into vital infrastructure supporting strategic goals across various sectors.
The remarks came as Sheikh Mansoor opened the 46th edition of The Big 5 Global, a leading international gathering of experts in urban development, construction, geospatial technology, and facilities management, at the Dubai World Trade Center on Monday. The event, running through January 27, brings together over 85,000 specialists and more than 2,800 exhibitors from around the world, showcasing approximately 60,000 innovative products.
Sheikh Mansoor expressed his appreciation for the event’s impact and the cutting-edge technologies and solutions it presents in the building sector. He noted the industry’s contribution to job creation, the stimulation of supporting sectors, and the development of resilient urban systems capable of meeting current and future needs, aligning with the UAE’s development plans and Dubai’s focus on accelerating digital transformation, resource planning, and advanced engineering.
During a tour of the exhibition, Sheikh Mansoor learned about its role in fostering international partnerships and providing opportunities for specialists and companies to collaborate on solutions that address the rapid changes in the construction sector, reinforcing Dubai’s position as a leading city in shaping the future.
The tour included visits to the international pavilions of Spain and Italy, both leaders in construction and building technologies. Sheikh Mansoor reviewed key exhibits within the pavilions, part of a broader international presence at the global event.
Sheikh Mansoor also visited the Dubai Municipality pavilion, where he was briefed on innovative projects and initiatives aimed at enhancing the sustainability of the emirate’s infrastructure and solidifying Dubai’s leadership in this vital sector. The focus included high standards for green building, energy efficiency, and alignment with Dubai’s vision for a more efficient, resilient, and sustainable city, contributing to a low-emission economy that supports comprehensive development.
The tour also encompassed pavilions representing a range of major Arab and international institutions and companies operating in the construction, building, and related equipment sectors.
