A fugitive wanted in connection with a drug trafficking operation linked to the Djakarta Warehouse Project (DWP) music festival in Bali has turned himself in to authorities, police announced Thursday.

Tigran Denre Sonda surrendered to the National Police’s Narcotics Directorate on December 24, accompanied by AKBP Wisnu and received by AKBP Agung Prabowo, according to Brigjen Eko Hadi Santoso, Director of Narcotics at the National Police’s Criminal Investigation Unit.

Sonda turned himself in at 2 p.m. local time, and authorities immediately conducted a urine test and other examinations, Santoso said. The results of the urine test were negative.

The surrender comes after police arrested Sonda’s wife, Donna Fabiola, earlier this month. She allegedly told investigators she obtained the drugs from her husband.

Fabiola was arrested December 10 at a cafe in Kerobokan Kelod, North Kuta, Bali, by a team led by Kombes Pol Handik Zusen, Kombes Pol Zulkarnain Harahap, and Kombes Pol Awaludin Amin.

“Donna is a distributor who admitted to getting the drugs from her husband, Tigra Denres Sonda, who was a fugitive,” Santoso said December 22.

The arrest followed an undercover operation that began after authorities received information about the distribution of cocaine and MDMA in Bali. A joint team, including officials from the Narcotics Directorate and Customs, then launched a further investigation.

To date, 18 suspects have been taken into custody in connection with the case. Police have seized narcotics with an estimated value of 60 billion Indonesian Rupiah (approximately $3.8 million USD).

The seized drugs include 31 kilograms of methamphetamine, 956.5 ecstasy pills, 23.59 grams of ecstasy powder, 135 grams of “happy water,” and 1 kilogram of ketamine. Authorities also recovered 33.12 grams of cocaine, 21.09 grams of MDMA, 36.92 grams of marijuana, and 3.5 “happy five” pills.

The large-scale drug bust highlights the ongoing efforts to combat narcotics trafficking in Indonesia, particularly around large-scale events like the Djakarta Warehouse Project.
