Errachidia, Morocco – A recent training workshop in the Draa-Tafilalet region focused on bolstering the country’s fight against HPV and cervical cancer through improved public health communication. The November 20th event brought together key healthcare leaders and communicators to refine strategies for increasing HPV vaccination rates, a critical component of Morocco’s national immunization program. Participants aimed to translate newly acquired skills into strengthened provincial-level outreach initiatives.
Health officials in the Draa-Tafilalet region of Morocco convened a training workshop on November 20, 2025, focused on human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination. The workshop aimed to equip healthcare professionals with effective communication skills to raise awareness about the importance of HPV vaccination, aligning with the national immunization program and the Ministry of Health and Social Protection’s broader strategy. HPV vaccination is a key preventative measure against several cancers, making effective public health messaging crucial.
The training initiative is part of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection’s ongoing efforts to enhance the capabilities of healthcare personnel in communication techniques.
During the workshop, participants discussed several key aspects of HPV, including its life cycle, strategies for preventing infection through vaccination, and the vaccine’s effectiveness in preventing cervical cancer. The training also emphasized communication skills to promote HPV vaccination in accordance with the national immunization program.
The workshop was attended by heads of health institution networks, the head of the health supply department of the regional directorate, officials from the National Immunization Program in the provinces, and communication officers from the Draa-Tafilalet region. Facilitators included the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy in Errachidia, the head of the school and university health program, a representative from the regional media and communication unit, and public health officials from the regional directorate.
The training concluded with participants expressing satisfaction with the new skills they acquired, which they plan to implement at the provincial level to strengthen HPV vaccination efforts and combat cervical cancer. These skills are expected to improve vaccination rates and ultimately reduce the incidence of HPV-related cancers.
