Venezuela Implements Emergency Measures as Power Demand Hits Record Highs
Venezuela is facing a critical energy juncture as electricity demand reaches record levels, raising urgent concerns that the country could be on the verge of another national blackout.

The surge in power consumption is being driven by a recent economic opening, according to the Ministry of Electric Power, which has significantly increased the electrical load across the country.
To combat the strain, the government is currently conducting technical maneuvers to stabilize the system in response to what officials have termed a “demand milestone.” This volatility highlights the ongoing struggle to balance aging infrastructure with rising energy needs.
As part of these stabilization efforts, Minister Rolando Alcalá has convened specialized working groups to coordinate the Recovery and Transformation Plan for the National Electric System (SEN).
This comprehensive recovery and transformation strategy aims to modernize the grid to prevent future systemic collapses while addressing the current record-breaking demand.
