Flambée du kérosène : Royal Air Maroc résiste face à la crise, mais pour combien de temps encore ?

Royal Air Maroc is managing rising jet fuel costs as global kerosene prices have surged more than 130 percent since the start of the conflict, according to Telquel.

The Moroccan national carrier, like airlines worldwide, is closely monitoring its fuel consumption amid the sharp increase in aviation fuel prices, which have doubled in just six weeks.

Despite the pressure, Royal Air Maroc continues to operate normally, though the sustainability of this stance remains uncertain as fuel costs climb.

The situation has prompted two route suspensions and has led to expectations of higher ticket prices in the near future.

While the airline is not exempt from the broader market turmoil, it has so far avoided the operational restrictions affecting other international carriers flying into Morocco.

A NOTAM issued by Moroccan aeronautical services on February 6, 2026, confirmed a critical shortage of jet fuel at all Moroccan airports, advising international airlines to avoid refueling in the country unless absolutely necessary.

The directive requires long-haul flights to carry sufficient fuel for return journeys without landing in Morocco, though exceptions apply to military flights, air ambulances, and Royal Air Maroc aircraft.

More than one million tons of fuel remain stranded at sea due to adverse weather conditions, with improvements in supply expected after February 10, 2026.

The fuel shortage affects all major Moroccan airports, including Casablanca-Mohammed V, Marrakech-Menara, Agadir, Tangier, and Fès.

For travelers booked on flights to Rabat with carriers such as Ryanair, the situation remains under control, though advance planning is advised due to the evolving circumstances.
