Former Faro Mayor and PSD Deputy José Vitorino Dies at 80
José Adriano Gago Vitorino, a prominent figure in the political landscape of Portugal’s Algarve region, passed away on Monday, May 11, 2026, at the age of 80.

A veteran of public service, Vitorino held several high-ranking positions throughout his career. He served as a member of parliament for the Social Democratic Party (PSD) and previously served as the President of the Chamber of Faro. His tenure in public office also included a term as Secretary of State.
