A fall during a challenge on “Jungle Camp 2026” sent singer Gil Ofarim to the hospital briefly, but the incident has sparked debate over the show’s rules adn fairness.
Ofarim’s subsequent consumption of a banana sandwich – provided to help him take pain medication – has raised questions about preferential treatment, given the show’s strict rationing of food.
medical personnel on set defended the decision as necessary for Ofarim’s health, but the incident is prompting scrutiny of the line between medical need and competitive advantage on the reality program.

A scary moment unfolded on “Jungle Camp 2026,” when singer Gil Ofarim suffered an injury during a challenge. The musician was briefly hospitalized as a precaution, but the incident quickly sparked a different kind of controversy – a banana sandwich, and questions about the show’s integrity.

The accident occurred during a water-based obstacle course. Ofarim attempted to quickly jump from a narrow platform to a larger one, missed, and fell awkwardly, landing heavily on the larger surface. He was immediately examined by the show’s medical team, who determined a hospital visit was necessary.

A First for “Jungle Camp 2026”

Fortunately, Ofarim quickly returned to camp, and isn’t seriously injured, though he is taking pain medication. And that’s where the story takes an unexpected turn. Upon his return, the singer shared with his fellow contestants, “I had to eat a sandwich with a banana on it to take the pills.”

This revelation is significant, as food is strictly rationed on “Jungle Camp.” Contestants can only earn extra food by successfully completing challenges. Ofarim directly stated that the pain medication was the reason he was able to eat something.

What Does Dr. Bob Say About the Sandwich?

The show’s medical professional, known as Dr. Bob, is a trained paramedic, not a physician. RTL brought him on camera to address the situation surrounding the banana sandwich, explaining that standard show rules were bypassed due to health concerns.

According to Dr. Bob, the food wasn’t just about the medication. It was about Ofarim’s overall condition: “It was mainly for medical reasons, to ensure that he can still digest and swallow properly and doesn’t have to vomit.”

It’s unprecedented for a contestant to leave “Jungle Camp,” return, and receive extra food in the process. However, Dr. Bob insists this didn’t give Ofarim an advantage. “This didn’t give him any advantages, because the actual shock and the longer hospital stay were strenuous for him. On top of that came the jungle challenge. He had no advantage.”

Dr. Bob believes Ofarim should be back to his old self quickly, suggesting a lot of swimming in cold water would be good for his muscles.
