TV 2 secured a high-profile interview between former Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjær and Norway striker Erling Braut Haaland. The 38-minute conversation took place in Oslo and will be broadcast on TV 2 Play this Saturday. Solskjær traveled from Kristiansund to meet Haaland, whom he previously coached during their time together at Molde from 2017 to 2019.
Eystein Thue, creative lead for football at TV 2, expressed satisfaction that both figures agreed to participate. “We’ve asked Solskjær multiple times to join our broadcasts, but it hasn’t been effortless,” Thue said. “I’m glad he said yes now. There isn’t a football rights holder in the world where he wouldn’t enhance the quality of our coverage—whether on-site or in the studio.”
The meeting occurred at Odeon Kino in Storo, Oslo, on March 30, the day before Norway’s private international friendly against Switzerland. Thue noted that the two have met previously, including an informal gathering before Christmas. Describing their interaction, he said the chemistry was strong and the conversation flowed naturally.
To guide the discussion, the team prepared question cards that were drawn alternately, allowing each to pose questions to the other. Thue clarified that the session was not intended as a quiz or game but rather as a thematic exchange grounded in mutual respect and shared history.
