Juventus Defender Bremer Highlights Mental Fortitude of Top Tennis Players

Turin, Italy – Juventus vice-captain Gleison Bremer praised the mental strength required of professional tennis players today, while attending the Nitto ATP Finals.

Bremer, a five-time Brazilian national team player, was present at the Inalpi Arena yesterday to watch Jannik Sinner’s straight-sets victory over Alexander Zverev. The footballer, who counts Lorenzo Musetti, Sinner, and Novak Djokovic among his favorite players, emphasized the individual responsibility inherent in tennis. “Their mentality impresses me the most,” Bremer told reporters. “In tennis you’re alone, you have no alibis, you must take all the responsibility. In football you can afford to play not at your best if your teammates help you.”

The Brazilian has shown a keen interest in the ATP Tour this year, having also attended the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters in April where he met Musetti. Bremer also expressed excitement about the rise of 19-year-old Brazilian star Joao Fonseca, who recently achieved a career-high No. 24 ranking after winning his first ATP 500 title at the Swiss Indoors Basel. Fonseca’s success is particularly significant as Brazil has not produced a top-tier tennis player since Gustavo Kuerten.

“He’s young, but he’s rising,” Bremer said of Fonseca. “I think in the future he has the potential to reach the same level of those world-class champions. We missed great sportsmen in the past years. In the past we’ve had Pele, Ayrton Senna, Guga [Kuerten].” The Nitto ATP Finals continue through the weekend, with Sinner now poised to compete in the semi-finals. The ATP Tour website provides further details on the tournament schedule and results.

Officials stated that Bremer’s presence underscores the growing crossover appeal of elite sports and the increasing global interest in the Nitto ATP Finals.
