West Hollywood Halloween Carnaval Set to Draw Hundreds of Thousands Friday

The annual West Hollywood Halloween Carnaval, one of the largest Halloween street parties in the nation, is scheduled to proceed as planned this Friday, October 31st, potentially drawing up to half a million attendees to the area.

The Carnaval will transform a mile-long stretch of Santa Monica Boulevard, from Doheny Drive to La Cienega Boulevard, into a pedestrian-only zone filled with costumed revelers, food trucks, and a performance stage. This year’s event includes a special celebration of the 50th anniversary of The Rocky Horror Picture Show, featuring a themed photo booth and a performance by the shadow cast group, Sins of the Flesh. The event’s popularity significantly boosts local businesses, but also requires extensive planning for public safety.

Significant road closures will be in effect beginning at 12:01 am on October 31st and lasting until 7 am on November 1st, impacting several streets including portions of San Vicente Boulevard, Robertson Boulevard, and Santa Monica Boulevard. West Hollywood Park, including its dog parks and basketball court, will also be closed during this period. Attendees are encouraged to utilize public transportation, as residential permit parking restrictions will be lifted from 11 am Friday until noon Saturday. Free shuttle services, The PickUp and Cityline, will operate a combined route along Santa Monica Boulevard, connecting to the Hollywood/Highland Metro station until midnight. For more detailed transit information, visit the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority website.

Event organizers remind attendees that the Carnaval is a free event, but security measures will be in place, prohibiting backpacks, camera cases, tote bags (except clear plastic bags), alcohol, weapons, fireworks, and drones. City officials recommend leaving young children and pets at home.

The West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station will be closely monitoring the event to ensure public safety and enforce all regulations.
