“Here Lies Love” Musical, Featuring David Byrne and Fatboy Slim, to Premiere at Mark Taper Forum in 2026
The Center Theatre Group will stage a new production of the critically acclaimed musical “Here Lies Love” at the Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles, beginning February 11, 2026.
The production, featuring music by Grammy, Oscar, and Tony Award winner David Byrne and Grammy Award winner Fatboy Slim, will run through March 22, 2026. It marks the first time the show will be performed since its Broadway run in 2023. Snehal Desai, CTG’s Brindell & Milton Gottlieb Artistic Director, will direct, with choreography by William Carlos Angulo.
“Here Lies Love” tells the story of Imelda Marcos, former First Lady of the Philippines, exploring her rise to power, the corruption and authoritarianism of her regime, and the family’s eventual exile following the People Power Revolution. The musical delves beyond the often-discussed image of Marcos’s extravagant shoe collection to examine broader themes of power and accountability. This production promises a unique theatrical experience, blending disco music with dynamic choreography and innovative visual design – a style that has previously captivated audiences with its immersive staging. The creative team also includes Joe Cruz and Jennifer Lin as Co-Music Directors, Arnel Sancianco as Scenic Designer, Yee Eun Nam as Projection Designer, Jaymee Ngernwichit as Costume Designer, and Brian Hsieh as Sound Designer.
