Last Remains Film Series to Host Halloween Screenings at Historic Million Dollar Theater
Los Angeles residents can experience a unique Halloween celebration this October with immersive screenings of classic horror films at the historic Million Dollar Theater, as part of the Los Angeles Conservancy’s “Last Remains” series.
The special event, taking place on October 25, will feature three themed showings: a 2:00 p.m. matinee of Young Frankenstein (1974), an 8:00 p.m. screening of Carrie (1976), and noon and 6:00 p.m. guided tours of the Million Dollar Theater itself. Tickets for film admission are $25 for general audiences and $10 for youth ages 17 and under. The Los Angeles Conservancy, dedicated to preserving historic places, originally launched the “Last Remaining Seats” series in 1987 to spotlight often-underutilized theaters like this one.
Comedian Samantha Hale, known as the creator of the horror-themed stand-up show “Horror Nerd” at the Hollywood Improv, will host both film screenings. Hale’s recent comedy special, Samantha Hale: Horror Nerd, was released by Comedy Dynamics. The Conservancy notes that some films contain depictions reflective of their time and does not endorse potentially outdated or offensive content, but presents them for their historical and artistic value. For more information on the Conservancy’s work, visit their official website.
Group discounts are available for parties of 12 or more. Officials encourage attendees to book tickets in advance, as these screenings often sell out quickly, contributing to the ongoing preservation efforts of Los Angeles’ architectural heritage.
