HMD is preparing to launch the Vibe 2 5G in India in May 2026, aiming to compete in the country’s increasingly crowded smartphone market. The device will be available through Flipkart, according to an official announcement from HMD India.
The upcoming smartphone is positioned as a successor to the Vibe 5G, which debuted in India in September 2025 with a starting price of Rs. 11,999. HMD is teasing the Vibe 2 5G as a budget-friendly option, potentially launching for under Rs. 10,000.
Early leaks suggest the HMD Vibe 2 5G will feature a 6.75-inch HD+ LCD display with a 90Hz refresh rate. It is expected to be powered by a Unisoc T7200 processor, paired with up to 4GB of RAM and up to 128GB of storage, with microSD expansion available. The phone could also offer up to 256GB of storage.
The Vibe 2 5G is anticipated to include a dual-camera system, headlined by a 50MP main sensor, alongside a 5MP front-facing camera for selfies. The device will also include a 5,000mAh battery with 10W wired charging.
HMD has revealed that the Vibe 2 5G will be available in Titanium Black and Titanium Light color options. Images shared by HMD via Flipkart showcase a polycarbonate back with a glossy camera island and minimal lens protrusion. The phone also boasts an IP52 rating for dust and splash resistance and a side-mounted fingerprint sensor.
The launch of the Vibe 2 5G signals HMD’s continued focus on delivering affordable 5G smartphones with a clean software experience to the Indian market. As the smartphone landscape evolves, budget-friendly options with 5G connectivity are becoming increasingly significant for wider accessibility.
