Idaho Commerce Director Honored with Public Policy Champion Award

Boise, Idaho – Idaho Department of Commerce Director Tom Kealey received the Public Policy Champion Award from the Idaho Technology Council yesterday, October 16, 2025, recognizing his dedication to fostering innovation within the state.

The award acknowledges Kealey’s key role in developing public policies that support Idaho’s growing technology sector. “I am honored to be recognized for this award alongside so many other influential innovators from Idaho,” Kealey said. “This is also an award for my team, stakeholders and many others. I am especially humbled to be the first within the Governor’s cabinet to receive this distinction.”

As Director of Idaho Commerce, a position he’s held since January 2019, Kealey leads the state’s economic development efforts, focusing on job creation, business support, and expanding broadband access. Kealey highlighted Idaho’s success, stating, “Idaho leads the nation for business and employment growth, quality of life, limited regulation, business friendliness, and workforce education,” attributing this success to innovative companies investing in the state. The award underscores the importance of public-private partnerships in driving technological advancement, as detailed by the Idaho Technology Council.

Officials say Idaho Commerce will continue to prioritize policies that encourage innovation and support the state’s thriving technology ecosystem.
