Jakarta –
The Indonesian Wushu team continued its impressive performance at the 33rd Southeast Asian Games in Thailand, adding two gold medals in Taolu competition on Monday, December 15, 2025. The team has now successfully met its initial target for the games.
Indonesia’s Wushu athletes have provisionally secured three gold medals, fulfilling the agreement made with the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora) review team. Senior athlete Edgar Xavier Marvelo claimed gold the previous day, a feat followed by Patricia Geraldine and the Dullian Bare Handed team – comprised of Ahmad Ghifari Fuaiz, Ahmad Ghozali Fuaiz, and Terrence Tjahyadi – who also reached the top of the podium.
Competing at The Government Complex Building C, Thung Song Hong, Lak Si, Bangkok, Thailand, Patricia Geraldine delivered a stellar performance, earning the gold in the combined Changquan, Jianshu, and Qiangshu event. Patrice, as she is known, achieved a total score of 29.266 (9.750, 9.760, and 9.756). This victory underscores Indonesia’s strength in the combined Taolu disciplines.

Malaysia’s Pang Pui Yee took silver with a total of 29.139 points, while Singapore’s Le Yen Shuen claimed the bronze medal with a score of 29.055.
With these results, the Indonesian Wushu team leads the medal count in Taolu with 3 gold and 3 silver medals. Malaysia currently sits in second place with 3 gold, 1 silver, and 4 bronze, and the Philippines is third with 2 gold and 1 bronze.
Gunawan Tjokro, Treasurer of the Indonesian Wushu Federation (PB WI) and Head of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Wushu Association, praised the flawless performances of both Patricia Geraldine and the team of Ahmad Ghifari Fuaiz, Ahmad Ghozali Fuaiz, and Terrence Tjahyadi.
“Their performances were truly exceptional, and many wushu officials from other countries commented on their world-class quality,” said Gunawan Tjokro.
Gunawan Tjokro also conveyed the appreciation of PB WU Chairman Airlangga Hartarto for the Indonesian Wushu team’s success in securing 3 gold and 3 silver medals from Taolu.
“Mr. Airlangga has been closely monitoring every development via mobile phone. Therefore, he expressed his appreciation to all Indonesian wushu athletes. I also want to mention that we have two more Indonesian Sanda athletes competing in the finals. Hopefully, we can add more gold medals and potentially win the overall championship in wushu at the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand,” he added.
The success of the Indonesian Wushu team, according to Gunawan Tjokro, is a direct result of the consistent support provided by Kemenpora for athlete development programs.
“I am happy and touched to contribute a gold medal for the Indonesian contingent. Especially, as this is my first appearance in a multi-sport international event,” said Patricia.
“It was quite tiring performing for three consecutive days, and the pressure was high. But all of that was worth it to achieve the best result at the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand,” she continued.
Patricia’s success was followed by a dominant performance from Ahmad Ghifari Fuaiz, Ahmad Ghozali Fuaiz, and Terrence Tjahyadi. They secured gold in the Duilian Bare Handed event, earning a score of 9.746 points.
Tin Hto Wai and Ye Yint Tun of Myanmar took silver with 9.706 points, while Mohd Firdaus Chua Muhammad Danis Ai of Malaysia earned bronze with 9.626 points.
“We are thrilled and proud to contribute a gold medal to the Indonesian contingent. This is our first gold medal at the Thailand 2025 SEA Games,” said Ahmad Ghifari.
