LiverpoolS 2-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday came at a potential cost,as forward Alexander Isak was forced to leave the match due to injury shortly after scoring his second Premier League goal for the club. The Swedish international, who entered the match as a halftime substitute, sustained an apparent ankle injury in the 53rd minute following a challenge from tottenham’s Micky van de Ven. Manager Arne Slot offered no immediate prognosis after the match, stating only that they would need to wait and see the extent of the damage.

Alexander Isak, 26, scored his second Premier League goal for Liverpool.

The Swedish international was then forced off with an injury.

“We have to wait and see,” said manager Arne Slot regarding the injury.

Liverpool’s 2-1 victory in a heated clash away at Tottenham came at a cost. Alexander Isak may not be celebrating the day fully despite playing a key role in the win.

Isak was introduced at halftime and put Liverpool ahead 1-0 just ten minutes later.

Isak Substituted

The moment Isak found the back of the net, he was challenged over his ankle by Tottenham defender Micky van de Ven.

Isak grimaced in pain as medical staff attended to him before limping off the pitch.

Isak’s time on the field was eventful and painful. He also took a stamp to the knee just minutes before his goal.

Liverpool manager Arne Slot had no immediate update on the extent of the injury after the match.

“We have to wait and see. It’s too soon to say anything, but it’s never good when a player has to come off,” Slot told BBC.

Two Red Cards

Hugo Ekitike extended the lead to 2-0, and Richarlison pulled one back for Tottenham late on.

Liverpool played a significant portion of the match with a man advantage after Xavi Simons was sent off in the 33rd minute. Cristian Romero also saw red in added time, leaving Tottenham to finish the game with nine men.

The closing stages were chaotic and filled with tension as tempers flared.
