The Italian new car market registered 124,222 registrations in November 2025, a figure virtually unchanged from the 124,267 recorded during the same period in 2024. This data confirms a period of relative stability for the sector. Traditional gasoline-powered vehicles are showing signs of weakness, accounting for 21% of total sales in November – a 6.4% decrease year-over-year. Year-to-date, gasoline car sales stand at 24.7%, down 4.4%. Diesel vehicles also experienced a decline, representing 8.2% of the market share in November and 9.4% cumulatively for the year, both down by more than four percentage points. However, the most significant growth is being seen in the electric vehicle (EV) sector. Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs), boosted by government incentives and increased vehicle availability, rose to 12.2% of the monthly market, a 7% increase. Year-to-date, EV sales reached 5.8%, up 1.7%. Plug-in hybrid vehicles also performed well, capturing 7.2% of the market in November and 6.2% year-to-date, with respective increases of 4.1% and 2.9%.
