Sports commentator Khalid Al-Shaneef dismissed claims that the AFC Champions League is less prestigious than domestic leagues, stating that teams unable to win Asia’s top club competition often downplay its importance.

Speaking on his indicate “Our League is Different,” Al-Shaneef used the Arabic proverb “he who cannot reach the grapes says they are sour” to describe critics who belittle the continental tournament.

He emphasized that all 18 participating clubs aspire to win the AFC Champions League title, which grants the winner the honorific “King of Asia”—a dream for every player and club.

Al-Shaneef added that those who claim the domestic league is superior or easier are often the same teams that have failed to win it and urged honesty in evaluating both competitions.

The AFC Champions League remains the pinnacle of club football in Asia, with victory carrying significant continental recognition and pride.
