Anderlecht began the Champions’ Play-offs in last place but could climb into third with a win over STVV on Thursday night. A victory would give them nine points from twelve and move them ahead of their hosts in the standings.

The match kicked off at 20:45 local time on April 23, 2026, at Stayen. STVV dominated the first half, creating several chances but failing to convert. Anderlecht goalkeeper Coosemans made key saves to retain the score level, while a shot from Goto struck the post.

In the 45th minute plus one, Bertaccini received a wide pass from Verschaeren and fired a first-time effort that sailed just over Kokubo’s goal. Earlier, Sebaoui had a chance from a Matsuzawa cross but dragged his effort wide, with Coosemans tipping it away for a corner.

Both Diarra and Coosemans required treatment in the 38th minute after appearing to pick up minor injuries, though play continued shortly after.

At halftime, the score remained 0-0. STVV had been the stronger side but lacked the final touch to break the deadlock.

Frank Boeckx warned ahead of the match that STVV needed to regain confidence after a slow start to the play-offs, noting they had earned just one point from nine possible. He emphasized the importance of securing three points to maintain pressure on Anderlecht in the race for third place.

The winner of the match would take a significant step toward claiming the provisional third spot in the Champions’ Play-offs, with Anderlecht aiming to leapfrog STVV and STVV looking to extend their advantage.
