Latvian Motocross Championship Announces 2026 Schedule and Class Changes
The Latvian Motocross Championship (LČMX) is gearing up for significant changes in its class structure and competition format, officials announced this week. The updates, set to take effect beginning in 2026, aim to enhance competition and fan engagement across all levels of the series.
The popular Retro class will see expansion in 2026, welcoming new sub-classes to accommodate a wider range of vintage motocross machinery. This will allow riders to compete with progressively more modern, yet still retro-eligible, bikes alongside the traditional air-cooled classics, offering a broader spectacle for fans.
For the 2024 season, the MX Pitbike class will be added to Saturday’s racing schedule, while the MX Open class will be removed from Saturday competition.
Sunday Racing Format Adjustments
Sunday’s racing will continue to feature the MX65 and MX85 classes, showcasing the next generation of Latvian motocross talent. The MX125 and MX2 classes will be combined into a single race, promising exciting head-to-head battles.
Perhaps the most notable change will see the MX Open class joining forces with the MX1 class in a combined race. This format proved successful in Estonia in recent years, and organizers hope Latvian riders will embrace the opportunity to compete against the top riders in the Baltic region. The move is expected to raise the overall level of competition and provide a challenging test for all participants.
Furthermore, the point-scoring system for the LČMX team competition will be simplified, making it easier for fans and media to follow the championship battle. With three months remaining until the first round of the 2024 LČMX season, further refinements and improvements are still possible.
