Grammy Winner Laufey Announces Children’s Book Inspired by Her Mascot

Grammy-winning artist Laufey is expanding her creative portfolio with the upcoming release of a children’s picture book, “Mei Mei The Bunny,” inspired by her popular mascot.

Penguin Workshop announced today, October 14, 2025, that the book, illustrated by Lauren O’Hara, will be available on April 21. “Mei Mei The Bunny” follows the determined journey of a bunny striving to become a professional musician despite facing early challenges. This marks Laufey’s first foray into children’s literature, broadening her appeal to a younger audience.

“I’m so excited to now share Mei Mei The Bunny in storybook form!” Laufey said in a statement. “Mei Mei has been a part of my life for over the last few years and opening up the world around her has been the most beautiful exploration. I hope that anyone at any age can find something in Mei Mei’s story that inspires them and connects them to the people in their lives.” Laufey, born Laufey Lín Bing Jónsdóttir in Iceland, gained prominence for her unique fusion of pop, classical, and jazz music; her 2023 album, “Bewitched,” earned her a Grammy Award for best traditional pop vocal album.

The announcement comes as Laufey continues to build momentum following the release of her latest album, “A Matter of Time,” and solidifies her position as a versatile artist. Penguin Workshop plans a full promotional campaign to support the book’s release next spring.
