“Le Switch” Explores Post-Marriage Equality Identity at The Broadwater Theatre
Broken Token Productions will debut “Le Switch” by Philip Dawkins, directed by Spenser Davis, at The Broadwater Theatre in Los Angeles November 7-15.
The romantic comedy centers on David, a 35-year-old New Yorker, as he navigates shifting identities and relationships following the legalization of gay marriage between 2011 and 2014. The production features Danny Bernardo, Christine Lin, Brian Kim McCormick, Jonathan Moreno, and Jonathan Slavin. This play arrives as discussions around LGBTQ+ rights continue to evolve nationally.
Dawkins described “Le Switch” as his “favorite play,” noting its focus on “love in all its forms — intergenerational queer relationships, not just romantic, but queer mentoring.” He added, “If we’re not lifting and reaching up, there’s a break in the chain of the generations.” Dawkins is incorporating rewrites tailored to the diverse cast for this production.
