Lechia Gdańsk defeated Jagiellonia Białystok 3-0 on Friday. Following the match, Jagiellonia’s Adrian Siemieniec acknowledged that the loss to John Carver’s side was well-deserved.
Jagiellonia struggled throughout the contest, failing to register a single shot on target in the first half. They went into the break trailing 1-0 after a goal from Rifet Kapic.
Lechia extended their lead after the interval, with Aleksander Cirkovic scoring twice to secure an emphatic 3-0 victory.
– Lechia deservedly won. We didn’t play well today, and there’s no point in pretending otherwise. It’s hard to say anything positive about the match in terms of how we performed. The first half was very poor from us. After the break, there were moments where we started to play a little better, getting closer to Lechia’s penalty area, but it was nowhere near enough to win the game. We also conceded some uncomplicated goals – Siemieniec said, according to radio.bialystok.pl.
– We were the weaker team and deserved to lose. Losing is part of the sport, and you have to deal with it, but that doesn’t mean we should accept it. We need to take it on the chin, get to work in the next training block, and create the most of our four upcoming home matches. Whatever I say now won’t mean anything. We need to respond with a win – he added.
Jagiellonia currently leads the Ekstraklasa standings. They will drop to second place if Lech Gdańsk earns a point against Widzew or Zagłębie Lubin defeats Piast in their respective upcoming matches.
Białystok will return to action on March 14th at 2:45 PM local time, hosting Piast in the 25th round of the Ekstraklasa. The result will be crucial as Jagiellonia looks to maintain its position at the top of the league.
